Feel-Good Study: Female Empowerment through Enhanced Living: a comparison of vaginal continence devices and pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) to PFMT alone for female stress urinary incontinence: a feasibility and pilot Study
Stage 1 Qualitative study
Chief Investigator: Professor Mohamed Abdel-Fattah
This is an invitation to take part in a focus group about management of Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) in women.
In this study, we are trying to investigate if it is feasible to deliver a definitive trial comparing the clinical and cost effectiveness of Self-inserted vaginal continence devices (VCDs) plus supervised pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) compared to supervised PFMT, in the management of stress predominant UI (SUI) in women.
In the stage one qualitative study, we want to hear the opinion of healthcare professionals’ (clinicians, continence nurses, physiotherapists) whose role is relevant to Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) regardless of whether you currently do/ do not offer VCDs.
We are keen to hear your opinions about PFMT and/or VCDs as a management option for Stress Urinary Incontinence. We want to understand how you feel about the different treatment options within a trial evaluating VCDs and your views on trial recruitment, trial conduct and outcomes that are important from healthcare professionals’ perspectives to design such a future trial. We would also like to understand what issues will encourage or stop participation of women and healthcare providers in a future definitive research study (randomised controlled trial).
Your participation is voluntary and will be kept confidential. You can withdraw from the study at any time.
